What a week!
All week, I have been waist high in clothes, shoes and laundry. I am still not done and it's Friday night! WTH!! I mean really, who owns that amount of stuff? Oh, yeah must be me LOL I have successfully bagged 5 trash bags full of clothes and shoes and will be off to Goodwill tomorrow to donate to those less fortunate. I am doing all this in preparation for my big makeover onMarch 17th. I am participating in the annual St. Baldrick's event where I will be having my hair shaved off to raise funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research. I am VERY excited to do this and would be honored if you would consider donating a small amount. Here is my page: www.stbaldricks.org/participants/charlottej Thanks to my readers!

You know it's a good workout when...
Your legs shake after getting off the bike. Yup, I went to my first ever spin class this morning while my DH looked after the kiddos. Now, I've been wanting to try this out for some time, so today was a perfect opportunity. It was only half an hour long, but holy moley, did we work! Thirty minutes of manic pedaling to the sounds of Proud Mary and The Village People got me sweating. My legs, arms and core hurt like crazy, hopefully I will be able to move tomorrow, we shall see!
The rest of the day has been spent at Old Sturbridge Village (www.osv.org), which is a living history museum here in New England. It was the perfect day for it too. Temps were just about hitting 40 degrees and although being windy, it was great to get the kids out into the fresh air. There is so much to do there and Nate loved it, he even mad a George Washington hat in honor of President's Day! Good day all around I think :)

Sniffle, sniffle, cough, cough...
As you can see I haven't posted anything new in a couple of days, because the dreaded winter cold virus has struck the household. Miss Livie has been coughing and runny nosed all week, closely followed by Nate and then me. Oh and can I just say don't drink a whole bottle of cabernet sauvignon when you have a cold. The end result is a rather clanging hangover. Ugh. Needless to say yesterday was a bit of a washout, due to this plus Nate having a rather explosive case of the rear end department. It has not been fun in the Jordan household this week, that's for sure.
On the upside, my lovely, darling husband bought me 100 blooms of Peruvian lilies which are gorgeous. Bonus too, the company sent out the wrong personal message, so they sent another 100 blooms today for free with a vase. Yay! Now I have two beautiful vases full of flowers. Although one of them only has 99 blooms because one of my cats saw fit to eat one and then yak it back up on my kitchen table. Grrrrr! Never a dull moment around here LOL
Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Wow! It got late!
Will someone please inform me as to how it got to be 6.48pm on Thursday? Really, this day has flown by! I have spent the majority of the day at my DH's grandmother's/father's house waiting for my car to be fixed at the local garage. Now, I don't mind waiting, I am a very patient person, but it totally sucks to be stuck waiting in the middle of February. Why, you ask? Because you cannot go outside for fear of frostbite after about 10 minutes exposure. Seriously, it's ridiculous. It's even more frustrating this time of year when you have a preschooler who is itching to go outside. Bad temper?Check.Lots of whining? Check. Too much TV time because you don't what else to do with them? Check.
We are all counting down the days to the Daylight Savings Time and warmer days. As my friend says, the moment it hits 40 degrees or above, they are SO going outside. The kids certainly need to shake this cabin fever (and for that matter, so do I!) Spring seems so far off, but I know it will also be bittersweet for me as my lovely daughter turns 1 on April 7th. How time flies! I am going to miss my little baby :( I already miss my toddler son who will be going into preschool this September. Gosh, how I wish we could bottle these years and keep them this way forever. Pretty soon, he will be towering over me and asking for the car keys LOL New season, new experiences. All good in my opinion :)

Snow Day!!
So today here in the great state of Massachusetts we are all getting ready for a typical Nor'easter. The Weather Channel says to expect 9 to 16 inches of snow. Now this is not something I look forward to at this time of year. Coming from a milder climate, I expect to see crocuses and snowdrops, not piles of snow, ice and salt. It was a novelty for my first couple of years here, "wow, look at all the snow!", but now, not so much. In fact, all through my childhood in England, I can only recall maybe once or twice ever getting snow, and that was dusting if any.
Here in the US, snow and snow clearing is a serious task. When we first arrived in the States, we did not have anything to clear snow with. Now keep in mind we moved in January, shortly after the state had had a blockbuster snowfall. We ended up clearing the 60ft, uphill driveway with teeny plastic shovels. That was not a task to be taken lightly!! Fortunately, my parents have finally come to their senses and invested in a snowblower :)
Today we will be hiding indoors in the warm watching movies on the TV and baking cookies. Yay for technology! It will also be a recovery day for the baby as she has a really yucky cold. Let's hope my son does not pick it up, after all he is going sledding with Granpa tomorrow. I can tell he has British blood in him when he announces that he is too cold after 10 minutes outside LOL

Who Am I?
Hi! I'm Charlotte, an expat Brit living in the US with my American husband and family. I have decided to start writing down my adventures (and misadventures!) living here in the US. I've currently been here for 13 years living with my green card as a permanent resident. I'm still undecided on whether to take my Naturalization test or not., but that is another post for another time. My family and I are currently living in Massachusetts, about an hour or so southwest of Boston and close to Rhode Island. As my blog progresses, I'll be adding pictures of my family and life here. Stay tuned for my next installment! :)
