So today here in the great state of Massachusetts we are all getting ready for a typical Nor'easter. The Weather Channel says to expect 9 to 16 inches of snow. Now this is not something I look forward to at this time of year. Coming from a milder climate, I expect to see crocuses and snowdrops, not piles of snow, ice and salt. It was a novelty for my first couple of years here, "wow, look at all the snow!", but now, not so much. In fact, all through my childhood in England, I can only recall maybe once or twice ever getting snow, and that was dusting if any.
Here in the US, snow and snow clearing is a serious task. When we first arrived in the States, we did not have anything to clear snow with. Now keep in mind we moved in January, shortly after the state had had a blockbuster snowfall. We ended up clearing the 60ft, uphill driveway with teeny plastic shovels. That was not a task to be taken lightly!! Fortunately, my parents have finally come to their senses and invested in a snowblower :)
Today we will be hiding indoors in the warm watching movies on the TV and baking cookies. Yay for technology! It will also be a recovery day for the baby as she has a really yucky cold. Let's hope my son does not pick it up, after all he is going sledding with Granpa tomorrow. I can tell he has British blood in him when he announces that he is too cold after 10 minutes outside LOL
